Welcome to Dynamikum!

Here, it’s all about movement – cranking, running, jumping – and learning about the phenomena behind it. In the Dynamikum, we turn physical laws and complex contexts of science and technology into a fantastic experience for researchers large and small.

Exciting Workshops During the Fall Break

As the days grow shorter, things are really coming alive at the Dynamikum. During the fall break in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, the Pirmasens Science Center is launching a colorful program for curious children and families: From October 5 to 16, 2026, there will once again be free STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) workshops as well as a daily hands-on program.

A “Right Outside Your Door” Research Journey

Outdoors in the neighboring Strecktalpark, there are also several exhibits on the theme of “uplift” to discover: for example, use the ornithopter to experience how a bird spreads its wings, or float (almost) weightlessly in the air in the “hover seat.” Or get some exercise with a round of disc golf: Similar to traditional golf, the goal of this relatively new sport is to hit a total of 15 baskets with as few throws as possible, starting from a designated tee. Disc golf discs can be rented at the Dynamikum if needed. Cost: 3 euros per disc; a deposit is required. The team will also receive a clipboard folder containing a scorecard and a course map.

EVENTS

Papier schöpfen (Kooperation mit der Stadtbücherei)

13.10.2026

In diesen Workshop stellen wir selbst Papier her.

Altersempfehlung: 7-12 Jahre

Teilnehmer max: 10-15 Kinder

kostenfreie Anmeldung erforderlich über https://go.westpfalz.de/fliegen

How many throws will you need to finish?

Just like in regular golf, the goal here is to complete the course with as few throws as possible. You don't play with a club and ball, however, but a Frisbee. Instead of a hole, the target is a basket. Players of all ages can test their skills and talents in the fresh air on 15 holes. The new sport DiscGolf is a fun game that offers sense of achievement!

How high can you jump? Why do spintops keep spinning? Can sounds move things? Who has the fastest reaction time?

The Dynamikum answers all these questions and more for researchers young and old – because everybody is hungry for knowledge.
